Getting Adobe CS5 to work on Mojave

0

I don't need the new version or want pay a monthly fee and I'm happy enough with CS5 but it does crap out on you if you do a regular installation. Here's how I got photoshop, illustrator, and premiere pro to work on my MacBook Air 2018 on Mojave

  1. Get serial number from https://account.adobe.com/products
  2. Get installation file from Adobe
  3. Install manually using these instructions from Adobe
Photoshop

To stop Photoshop from crashing when using the Text tool
- Install update 12.0.5 manually from Adobe

To get rid of annoying crash when quitting the program

/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Plug-ins/Extensions
  • Zip ScriptingSupport.plugin (in case you need it later) and delete it
Illustrator and Premiere Pro

To get rid of annoying crash when quitting the program

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager
  • rename lib folder to lib.bak

After a Mojave update Photoshop started crashing when opening a file and this is what fixed it

  1. Go to Security & Privacy
  2. Uncheck Photoshop under "allow the apps below to control your computer"
  3. Check it again
